Bay and Singleton Park Libraries will remain open 24/7 throughout the vacation.
The MyUni Library Information Desks will be staffed during the vacation as usual except for the period 6th – 11th April. On these dates the desk will be open 10AM-6PM.
Your Subject Librarians and the Document Supply Service will also be available during the vacation if you need any support in your studies, but please note that they will be unavailable from 6th – 11th April inclusive.
Please see our opening hours for full details of all our libraries and services over the vacation, including the Richard Burton Archives, South Wales Miners’ Library, Saint David’s Park and Banwen.
If you have books or journals out on loan over the holiday period, they will continue to auto-renew.
Laptops are not renewable. Please return any outstanding laptop loans promptly. These will not auto-renew, and fines are £10.00 per day.
We will not recall books or journals during the vacation this year – if your items have not been recalled by Saturday 25th of March then they will renew over the vacation.
Even if your item is requested during the vacation, the earliest it could be due back is Tuesday 25th of April.
When considering requesting items during this period, please check whether an e-copy is available – it is likely that this will be a much quicker means of accessing the resource during the vacation.
If you have any questions or concerns, please get in touch with the My Uni Library Team.
We had a great response to our Christmas wishes campaign – thank you! Lots of you hung your Library wishes on the Christmas trees at Bay and Singleton Park Libraries. In addition to all the good wishes and messages of thanks, which were lovely to receive, we had requests for:
Already we’ve taken steps to make drinking water facilities clearer and fixed outstanding issues with our group study pods at Singleton, whilst also making some more collaborative spaces available.
Moreover, many of your ideas for our study spaces and increasing the greenery and plant-life around the libraries are being included and prioritised in ongoing refurbishment works. On top of this we are continually working on our combined concerns on heating and toilet facilities with our partners across the University. Unfortunately, a few suggestions are beyond our means or just aren’t practical as services in a public building, particularly considering the number of people using our Libraries, but we appreciated the creative suggestions nonetheless. You never know what might be possible!
After Easter, look out for your opportunity to provide further feedback and write to the library as if it were a person! What do you wish you could have had from the library this year, or what stands out about the library looking back? Of course, if you’d like to do so already then please go ahead and email the MyUni Library team now!
Finally, Library staff would like to wish you all a happy holiday. We hope you have an opportunity to relax and enjoy your break.
