The Welsh Government have updated the current covid regulations and we have been reviewing these in relation to our University community. For those students in Wales, you are currently required to stay local and work or study from home if you can. We are asking students to only attend campus if you cannot study from home.

We are still in alert level 4 so please ensure you are following the latest guidelines. For those of you not in Wales please ensure you are aware of the guidelines for your place of residence.

Post-Easter Vacation

From 19th April the current teaching arrangement will continue online, with some face-to-face teaching for those who have already been asked to return plus some new additions. Your College/School will be in touch with you to confirm arrangements.

If you are a Postgraduate Research Student, you can engage in your research from campus, if however you do need to remain at home, either in the UK or overseas, please contact your supervisor to discuss this.

Lateral Flow Testing

Lateral flow testing for students is currently taking place and appointments are available. From 12th April students will be able to be tested twice weekly and we strongly encourage you to take a lateral flow test before returning to on-campus activity- immediately upon arrival and then again three days later. After that, you are encouraged to take twice-weekly lateral flow tests to help break the chain of transmission, identify asymptomatic infections and keep the community safe.

We will send out further communication on testing arrangements from 12th April.

International Students

We understand some international students might choose not to return to Swansea for the remainder of teaching block two.

If your teaching and assessments finish for this academic year before July 31st 2021, and so long as your college or school doesn’t require you to be here, then you may choose not to return this academic year.

If you are a January entry student, or on a taught masters programme, or other programme where teaching or research continues over the summer, then you may be required to return to engage in your studies over the summer. You are advised to confirm this with your college or school.

If you are planning on applying for the Graduate Route programme, please refer to the information available via the link.

Please ensure you contact your college or school if you are unsure about whether you need to make plans to travel to Swansea for your programme and for any other enquiries please contact MyUniSupport.

Assessments

University staff have worked hard to make significant changes to teaching and assessment for the new blended environment.

Assessments have been adapted to ensure that they can be effectively taken either online, or through a different type of assessment than a formal written examination to ensure all students are able to achieve their best. Assessments will continue to be online for the majority of programmes, some exceptions do apply and your College/School will communicate these to you directly.

Information and definitions for learning, teaching and assessments.

If you require specific information about your forthcoming Summer assessments, please contact your College/School for advice.

 On-campus Services

We are currently operating under Level 4 restrictions and will open services in line with Welsh Government regulations. We are therefore unable to guarantee what facilities we will be able for provide for students, however will keep you updated as regulations change.

Health and Safety On-campus

As a University we have relevant measures in place and our facilities are equipped and managed in line with health and safety guidelines to keep you safe and protect your health, whilst ensuring you receive the highest quality teaching, learning, support for your research and student experience.

The University expect face coverings or masks to be worn by staff and students on campus, particularly when moving around or in spaces where social distancing may be more difficult. This includes in communal areas within buildings such as entrances, corridors, toilets and learning environments such as lecture theatres and PC labs.

Some individuals may not be able to wear a face covering for medical reasons or a disability,  please be mindful and respectful of such circumstances.

More information is available on our information sheet online.

Reporting a positive Covid-19 Test

Please remember that you must notify MyUniSupport if you have symptoms of or have tested positive for Covid-19; or if you are isolating or quarantining.

To help us ensure we can support you it is important that you take some time to update your contact details, term address, phone numbers etc and your current mode of study (online or on campus) via your Intranet Account. Mode of study can be found under the ‘Coronavirus’ tab, many students who aren’t currently on campus will need to select ‘Other’ as the reason for engaging online at this current time, unless of course one of the health-related categories is more applicable to your personal circumstances.

However, me along with some other students, that i know of, have mailed the college to give us further specific instructions so that the travel arrangements can be made but we have not received any reply. it has been over 4 days and we would all really appreciate if we could get a reply soon.
