Summer Term Arrangements for all Students 14.04.21: Following Welsh Government changes to Covid regulations, we wanted to get in touch to remind you of the following arrangements for the Summer Term.

Social distancing requirements mean there are still changes to how we can operate, however we are committed to providing the best student experience possible whilst balancing this with your safety and current regulations.

We are pleased to announce from the 19th April, both Bay and Singleton Libraries will be offering increased opening hours and bookable study space time. Details will be available on the Library webpages. There are also a number of informal study spaces available on both campuses.

We are also excited to say the University has provided an extra funding boost to the Students’ Union to ensure we can implement new social spaces outside as soon as restrictions and logistics allow. More information will be communicated on this.

The Student Support Fund is now open for students who are struggling to meet essential expenses as a direct result of the current pandemic. Applications can be made here.

As communicated previously, the following arrangements are in place for learning and teaching:

  • From the 19th April the current teaching arrangement will continue online, with some face-to-face teaching for those who have already been asked to return plus some new additions.
  • If you are a Postgraduate Research Student, you can engage in your research from campus, if however you do need to remain at home, either in the UK or overseas, please contact your supervisor to discuss this.
  • Assessments will continue to be online for the majority of programmes, your College/School will have already communicated with you where exceptions apply.

For those students intending to return to Swansea for the summer term, please ensure you read the recommended testing arrangements before you travel. We are asking students to test before they travel and on your return to University.

Safety Measures

We know the past few months have been challenging, however we still need your full cooperation to ensure you and those you care about are kept safe.

It is vital safety measures are observed to keep Covid cases down and ensure restrictions can continue to be eased nationally. The majority of our students are following guidelines and we are very grateful for your help.

In particular we ask you to pay attention to the following requirements:

  • Please respect the local community you are living in. Late night noise, anti-social behaviour and littering have been reported as a particular problem.  Any litter should be placed in the bins provided or taken home, we have some amazing spaces in Swansea and we’d like to keep them looking that way!
  • You must wear a face covering at all times (unless you are exempt from doing so) when moving about the campus and follow social distancing procedures. Please be considerate of fellow students and staff safety.
  • You must not meet other people who are not part of your household indoors, avoid large gatherings or house parties – these types of events are against the law and significantly increase your risk of catching Covid or the virus spreading quickly between you and your friends.
  • To enable us to support you please let us know if you test positive for Covid-19 regardless of if you are in Swansea or elsewhere. You can email MyUniSupport to let us know of a positive result.

If you have any questions or require additional support, please email MyUniSupport. You can also find the latest updates and news on our MyUni current student social media pages.
