Male student in labThe Welsh Government have announced the guidelines for university students in September, which include information on social distancing and group study capacity. We know that you are anxious to find out what this means for your study starting in September.

Swansea University welcomes the new guidance from Welsh Government, which will enable us to continue to provide some face-to-face teaching from September while still putting the safety of staff, students and the wider community at the centre of all we do.

We are working through the guidance and will be giving more details of teaching and learning arrangements when we are able. Our staff are continuing to ensure our campuses safe for you and the MyUniSupport team will be running our dedicated Covid-19 support service for all our students.

You will be encouraged to take a lateral flow test before you come to university, and regularly for the first 28 days after you arrive. If you have not been vaccinated, you will be able to book your vaccine straight away.

The Students’ Union is doing everything possible to ensure societies, sports clubs, and social events can, if circumstances allow, resume in person. The Students’ Union and SU Officers will be reaching out to committees and students over the coming months to ensure they are supported and have the resources they need to be able resume their activities. We understand that not everyone will be comfortable with stepping into in-person events straight away and will be offering opportunities and encouraging student groups to hold events, both online and in-person. Extra-circular activities are an essential part of the student experience, and we want every student to be able to participate safely and in a way that they feel comfortable.

Our aim as ever is to provide a first-class student experience for all, and we are looking forward to welcoming both new and returning students to our campuses for the new academic year.

So are overseas students required to arrive in the UK?
If necessary, please inform us as soon as possible, because the preparation of visa, air ticket, luggage and so on will take time.

Hopefully we can finally get back to studying on campus!

Will all courses be having face to face teaching?

    • Student Partnership and Engagement Manager says:

Hi Natalie, plans are currently being made with timetabling having reviewed the Welsh Government advice. We’ll be able to release more information on how we hope face to face teaching will look soon, however if you have any specific questions it would be best to contact your College information office. Thank you!
