We are really pleased to inform you that the First Bus 24 hour bus service which was temporarily suspended due to COVID and resulting driver shortages, is set to return in January 2022.Student using 24 hour bus service

The Number 8 will provide a 24 hour service Monday to Friday, and will link Hendrefoelan Student Village, Singleton Campus, City Centre and Bay Campus, as well as stops along the route.

Students with term time and annual passes will be able to use the service at no additional cost.  Day tickets purchased on the day of travel will also be valid until 5.30am the following morning. Single and day tickets can be purchased ahead of travel via the First Bus app, or on the bus. We’ll send out full details about the service to all students later this year, and we’ll be updating our Travel Webpages with the news.

Temporary Arrangements

In the meantime, there is a temporary Cymru Coaches service running up until 10th December.

The free service is running on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 12 midnight until 4am.

The coaches pick up at the usual bus stops at HSV, outside Fulton House, City Centre bottom of Wind Street in the layby for transfers from Singleton, and opposite layby for transfers from the Bay. There are no other stops along the way.

Please note that the Cymru Coaches shuttle service is a short-term, temporary solution and only running until 10th December. Tickets are required for all travel on First Bus services. More information about ticket options and prices are available on our Travel Webpages.

Can I get more information on the Cymru Coaches service? Like what are the routes? Is it free for both going and coming journeys or just one journey? Do you have to prove you’re a student?

    • Student Partnership and Engagement Manager says:

Hi Norma, the coach service is free, if you are going out before 12 then you would need to pay on the First Cymru service. The coach service has limited stops as it is not a timetabled bus service, it stops at HSV, Singleton Campus, then on Wind street and on to Bay Campus. There is no need to show student ID and it runs every 1/2 hour approximately.
