Update: the one way system is now cleared and the bus service is operating as usual.

Due to a fallen tree at Fulton House Roundabout today, bus services will be affected in the short term as the clear up operation takes place. Whilst the fallen tree is blocking the road and a one way system is in place directing traffic through campus we will use the Singleton Hospital entrance to the north of campus and the Meadow Gate to the south of campus for private cars to exit.

If you are catching the bus, pick up and drop off has moved to the west side of Futon House, near the Santander Cycles hub. Security staff are on hand to direct staff and students. We anticipate to have the road open as soon as possible but expect it will be closed for the rest of the working day.

Thank you for your patience and we apologies for any delays.

Welsh affairs officers Shwmae! Hello! My name is Tom and I’m your Students’ Union Welsh Affairs Officer for this academic year. Welcome to Swansea University!

As a Welsh institution, we are proud of our language, culture and heritage and it’s my responsibility to ensure that these are at the forefront of both the University and the Union.

I hope by now you would’ve noticed that we are proud to be a bilingual University, communicating in two languages. These languages are the official languages of Wales, Welsh, which was given official status in 2010 and English.

The Union also holds numerous Welsh events throughout the year, such as our Welsh Welcome and Croeso Cymraeg freshers’ events. These events are the perfect way to learn more about the Welsh language, culture and heritage so keep your eyes peeled for more. (more…)

You’ll notice a few changes and improvements at Singleton Park Library:

  • We have installed automatic wheelchair accessible doors on level 3 to improve accessibility.
  • The Law Library has a new floor and furniture layout and lighting and power have been added to the desks.
  • The Study Hall has new furniture with better power provision and more group study provision.
  • Work is ongoing on Level 2 to improve silent study spaces. You’ll see furniture shifting around as we assess what students seem to prefer. There will be feedback boards and consultation going on during October. Please let us know what you think.

Female student using a megaphoneUnitu is an award-winning online platform, where students can share feedback anonymously in a private section. This feedback is then voted on by other students. If it gets enough votes, Student Reps will move the feedback into the public section, where it can be seen and acted on by relevant members of staff.

How Can I Start Using Unitu?

It’s really simple – once you’ve enrolled in Swansea University, head over to the Unitu website to activate your account. It takes less than 5 minutes and once you’ve activated your account, you can start interacting with the platform. (more…)
