STUDENT IN MASK This study aims to explore the experience and wellbeing of students who have been ‘shielding’ as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

We are looking for Swansea University students to take part in an exploratory study about the experience that shielding has had on people’s well-being as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. The whole process involves individuals who have been shielding to take part in an individual, semi-structured online interview be for approximately 45-60 minutes to explore the effects that shielding has had on their wellbeing.

If you are interested in taking part in the study, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

The research is conducted by MSc student Rebecca Williams supervised by Sophia Komninou (sofia.komninou@swansea.ac.uk).

Please contact Rebecca Williams at 956926@swansea.ac.uk if you are interested in taking part.

This research has been approved by the Research Ethics Committee, School of Human and Health Sciences, Swansea University.

What is Shwmae Su’mae Day?

  • An opportunity to celebrate the Welsh language in your community, workplace or school/university.
  • It aims to encourage the people of Wales to start every conversation with “Shwmae” or “Su’mae”.
  • Before long, a single Shwmae or Su’mae will turn into hundreds and thousands of greetings throughout the year

Who can get involved?

  • It is open to everyone, of all ages, from all parts of Wales.
  • Umbrella organisation, Dathlu’r Gymraeg, leads the activities but the day belongs to everyone who has an interest in seeing the Welsh language thrive.
  • Whether a non-Welsh speaker, learner or fluent in Welsh – whatever your ability, the day is something we can celebrate together.

Swansea University is proud to be a bilingual university. Our student, staff and the public have the right to use their Welsh.

Make sure that you understand these rights under the Welsh Language Standards.

Academi Hywel Teifi is the Welsh-language powerhouse of the University, and is responsible for developing opportunities for students

to study elements of their course through the medium of Welsh.

They are also home to the Learn Welsh Swansea Bay

centre, and the Welsh department itself.

The Welsh language belongs to us all. Give it a go!

hubThe MyUniHub desking opening hours are temporarily reducing.

From Tuesday 5th October, the desk will open from 0830-12:00 only. This is to reduce the demand on the space during the peak parcel collection period. You can still contact the team by phone and email until 17:00.

If you have an appointment based at MyUniHub outside of the desk opening hours, you should attend and MyUniHub will be in touch with you to advise you of changes to these arrangements.

Along with colleagues in UPP, MyUniHub is establishing a sustainable working arrangement to maintain services safely. Further details will be shared soon.
