Wales Recycles’ post-campaign survey in March/April 2021 revealed a clear link between recognition of the campaign and enhanced recycling behaviours amongst Welsh citizens. This has helped to drive positive behaviour with over 50% saying they’ve done some things differently and 46% saying they recycle more than they were six months ago after seeing the campaign.
We’re asking everyone to ‘Step it Up’ this Recycle Week, which takes place from 20th to 26th September, and recycle as much as you can to help tackle climate change.
As part of Recycle Week and the Marine Conservation Society’s Great British Beach Clean week, you can join the Sustainability team for a beach clean on Thursday 23rd September at Swansea Bay. Register via Eventbrite.

Residents in Swansea are being urged to join the council’s latest ‘Keep it Out’ campaign to meet the Welsh Government’s 70% recycling target.
The campaign aims to keep out of black bags materials that could be recycled and thanks to the efforts of householders across the city, Swansea’s recycling rate has climbed to 64 per cent. (more…)

For those living close enough, it makes good sense to get your walking shoes on and travel to campus on foot. Depending on which part of Swansea you’re living in, there are some stunning walking routes into uni and there’s no better way to get your daily steps in.
Walking is a fantastic form of gentle exercise, it’s great for your physical and mental wellbeing and it won’t cost you a penny! And when you’re not studying, you should try making your other local journeys on foot too. (more…)

92% of people in Wales recycle. We need the power of Swansea University students to keep Wales Mighty for our community, our country and our planet.
To make it to number 1 and become a zero-waste nation by 2050, we need to ramp up our recycling efforts from home.
That’s why Swansea University is supporting the third burst of Be Mighty. Recycle campaign. Coinciding with Global Recycling Day on 18th March and running until 24th March, we’ll be sharing recycling information, top tips and running virtual events to help you maximise your recycling at home, whether you live on or off campus.
Find out how you can maximise your recycling efforts on our Sustainability webpages and join the conversation online using the campaign hashtag #BeMightyRecycle
