Swansea Council are now consulting with young people (under 25s) about walking and cycling routes that you use to get to work, education, health, leisure and other venues/facilities so we can update our existing route map.

The Active Travel (Wales) Act came into force on 24 September 2014. The act requires all local authorities in Wales to map, plan and make continuous improvement to its active travel networks (i.e those for pedestrians and cyclists). The act requires that each local authority prepares an existing route map by January 2016. This map will be a record of all the available active travel routes and the council is keen to ensure that your favourite routes are included.

Sign up as a BLACKOUT volunteer now and be part of the BIG XMAS BLACKOUT! All you will be doing is turning-off all left on non-essential equipment in offices (i.e. computers, printers, lights, mobile phone chargers, etc.) left on before the start of the weekend.

All students and staff will be trained on the same day and every group (2-3 people) will be allocated a space on campus for the Blackout event.  As part of the December ENERGY AWARENESS MONTH campaign we need YOU to help the University reduce its energy usage.

When: Friday 4th December, 2015 Time: 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Did you know that switching of all non-essential equipment alone can achieve energy savings of 10-20%! But to get there we need lots and lots of volunteers. Volunteers will receive a free pizza dinner and certificate of your participation!

*IMPORTANT NOTE: Laboratories, lecture theaters and appliances used for research work are exempted from the BLACKOUT. For more details about the event visit our Blackout website: http://www.swansea.ac.uk/sustainability/blackout/ Sign up as a volunteer by contacting sustainability@swansea.ac.uk

This activity also counts towards the Sustainability Award Many thanks, SHE Services (Sustainability-01792602589)
