Research as Art is unlike any other image capture competition as it gives you, the researcher, an opportunity to capture the humanity and beauty of your research with both an image and a narrative of your research in words.

We are currently showing entries from the competition from 2015 in the prestigious Royal Institution in Mayfair, London.ras

Who can enter the competition?

The competition is open to all staff and researchers from undergraduate to Professor; studying, working or supporting research in any field or discipline. This includes Arts and Humanities, Human and Health Sciences, Engineering, Medicine, Law, Business and Management, Science. Everything!

What you need to do:

Capture a visual representation of your research ( JPEG and TIFF file)

Give it a title

Write a short compelling paragraph – about the research, the human aspect…whatever you feel makes for an interesting snapshot or narrative of your research

Complete an application form

Closing date: 8th April 2016

The James Bartley Prize in English Reading is awarded by the Senate of the University to the 761-Library-1student who attains the highest standard in English reading in a competition open to all students in the University. The competition will be held on the above date. Competitors will be required to read a passage selected by the adjudicating panel.

The prize is of the value of £60, to be spent on the purchase of books. The student awarded the prize will be expected to read the English authorisation and poem at the Degree and Award Congregations. Please note that the prize will not be awarded unless sufficient merit is shown.
