We’re aware that some of you are having problems when catching buses from Bay Campus towards Swansea City Centre. The buses are often full and some of you have been waiting a long time to get on board.

We know this is really frustrating and we wanted to let you know that we’re working really hard to solve the problem. In November, we’ll be bringing in 5 double decker buses, and another 5 will be coming in January to help with the capacity issues on our UniBus services.

In the meantime, you might want to jump on the bus from the main road outside Bay Campus instead. From there, you can get to any stop up to and including the Quadrant Bus Station by catching the X1, X3, 58, X55, 84 or X10 First Cymru bus services. If you’ve got a bus pass, you won’t need to pay any extra. If you don’t have a bus pass, you can use or buy your £3.50 day ticket on board. These buses have lots of room and they actually get you to the Quadrant Bus Station quicker than the UniBus services from Bay Campus.

If you need help planning your journey, you can visit MyUniJourney. It’s a really handy tool that gives you a list of different travel options and lots of information to make catching the bus to and from our campuses really easy.

Don’t forget, if you’re aged under 19 you can apply for My Travel Pass, which will give you 1/3rd off all bus travel in Wales. It’s completely free to sign up and get your pass.

If you have any questions, please contact Jayne Cornelius, our Sustainable Travel Officer by emailing

Thank you for your understanding, we do really appreciate your patience!

We’re really sorry that you’ve been having problems with the 8X Service from Fabian Way Park and Ride to Bay Campus.

We’re talking to Swansea City Council in order to resolve the issue for you and we have been assured that additional services from Fabian Way Park and Ride to the Bay Campus will be introduced in January.

In the meantime, we’ve managed to agree the following measures:

  • If you hold an Excess Parking Permit, you can walk to the bus stop on the main road and get the bus to Bay Campus for no additional charge.
  • If you pay a daily fee to park at Fabian Way, you can pay the usual £2.50 and then walk down to the main road and get on the bus to Bay Campus. A return ticket will cost £1.70.

Services going to the Bay Campus from the main road bus stop are X1, X3, X55, X57, 58, 57, 84.

We’re really sorry for the inconvenience and we’re working really hard to get this issue resolved.

Thanks for your patience.
