Students in study areaFace masks must be worn by staff and students, unless they have a strong reason not to wear one:

  • When moving around campus, particularly within buildings. Outside areas where people are spread out are less of an issue, but masks and coverings are still a sensible precaution when moving around outside.
  • When in enclosed areas, such as shops, food outlets and reception areas in teaching spaces, labs and offices where social distancing is difficult.

The best control to combat Covid-19 is to practice good hygiene, such as handwashing, and maintaining social distancing. However, it is not always possible to keep distant from others as we move around campus or unavoidably find ourselves in a more enclosed area. Face masks or suitable face coverings are an added layer of protection to reduce the risk of transmitting Covid-19 to others or contracting it yourself. (more…)

Children participating in interactive science activitiesOriel Science is delighted to announce that its new city centre venue at 21-22 Castle Street will be open to the public from Wednesdays to Sundays, 10am to 4pm throughout the summer school holidays. A PhD student from Swansea University Medical School has won the Swansea University Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition.

Kristen Hawkins, studying a PhD in Neuroscience, fought off competition from across the University with her presentation “Brain Wars” on her research into combatting Multiple sclerosis.

Established by the University of Queensland in 2008, 3MT is an international competition held at over 200 universities worldwide. (more…)
